The driver of a semi-truck was apparently at fault in an accident involving a driverless shuttle bus operating in Las Vegas, Nevada. The autonomous vehicle had been put into operation in the Freemont East area of the city less than two hours before the incident. The truck was backing into a driveway when one of its tires hit the shuttle, causing no significant damage or injuries. The driver was cited for illegal backing up. The shuttle, on the other hand, did what it was supposed to do;its sensors registered the truck and the shuttle stopped to avoid the accident. Unfortunately, the delivery truck did not stop and grazed the front fender of the shuttle.

One person is dead after a train crashed into a truck late this past Thursday evening in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The Florida Highway Patrol said the accident involved an Amtrak train and a truck. The truck had two people inside when it was hit by the train; the passenger of the truck, 38-year-old Caleb Osborne, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, Richard Tilman, 41 years-old, was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital. The train was heading from Orlando, Florida to New York City, New York with passengers on board when the truck drove into the path of the oncoming train, but none of those passengers were hurt.
The sheer size of trucks and the speed that trucks travel at now on highways and interstates means they have the potential to do a significant amount of damage in an instant. They can cause much more damage than if a car or a motorcycle was involved in a similar accident going at the same rate of speed. That is why victims who are involved in truck accidents, and who do not know what to do or how to begin to recover for the damages caused, should turn to an experienced truck accident personal injury lawyer specialist at the Law Offices of Gilbert R. Hoy Jr. and Affiliates to help guide them through this complicated litigation process.
