The family of 23 year-old Christopher Weigl, who died after being struck by a large truck while riding his bicycle in Boston, Massachusetts, has filed a lawsuit against the driver of the truck and his employer. In their complaint, Weigl’s family are alleging that the driver’s negligence caused Weigl’s wrongful death.
Weigl’s family are claiming that his death in December 2012 was preventable, and that the driver and trucking company, New Hampshire-based Ross Express, should be held responsible for causing it. They say that the company failed to properly train its drivers to watch for cyclists on the road, and that this negligent failure led to Weigl’s wrongful death.
Weigl’s family filed the suit this week in Suffolk Superior Court and are asking for an unspecified amount of wrongful death damages, as well as punitive damages.
