The National Football League has extended its condolences to 26 year-old Matt Asiata, a running back for the Minnesota Vikings and the victim’s son.
The bus was operated by a Utah-based company, Le Bus, and was being driven by Pita Asiata from Wendover, Nevada to Salt Lake City, Utah. Both motor vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the utility truck slowed down to enter a turnaround median. Asiata’s bus then struck the utility truck in the rear.

Three bus passengers sustained critical personal injuries. Several other occupants of the bus and the utility truck reported minor personal injuries.
Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the truck accident. Le Bus has launched its own investigation of the truck-bus crash. According to company officials, Asiata joined the company as a driver in 2009, and since then had only one minor accident in which he struck a parked, unoccupied car. No one was injured in that accident.
