Lisa Korch, a 46-year-old truck driver working for the J.P. Noonan Company, was injured on Monday, January 27, after her tanker truck carrying more than 11,000 gallons of gasoline rolled over on Route 24 in Fall River, MA and exploded.
According to reports, a witness to the accident rushed into the flames and pulled Korch from the cab of her vehicle. As a result, Korch avoided serious injuries, suffering only a minor shoulder injury in the crash. She was treated for her injury and is expected to make a full recovery.
The accident occurred around 7:15 AM Monday morning on the Presidents Avenue exit ramp on the northbound side of Route 24. The resulting inferno caused both sides of Route 24 to be shut down, and witnesses reported seeing the flames for miles around the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation, but the weather at the time was reportedly freezing with a mix of rain, freezing rain and snow.
Fortunately, no other people reported injuries in the accident, but homeowners in the area were forced to evacuate to avoid harm from the fumes, smoke and flames of the gasoline fire.
