An accident on Interstate 86 in New York claimed the life of a truck driver in the early hours of a morning recently. New York State Police reported that on Tuesday morning at 5:28 a.m., Troopers responded to a tractor-trailer collision on I-86 eastbound in the town of Cuba, New York. An investigation revealed that a 1987 Peterbilt truck was partially disabled in the roadway of I-86. The truck operator, Kyle W. Willis, 41years-old of Dorset, Ohio, was outside his vehicle attempting to make repairs when he and his truck were struck by a 2016 Freightliner traveling eastbound on I-86.
Mr. Willis was transported to the Olean General Hospital where he died from his injuries. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is still investigating this collision with the assistance of the NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit. This is still an ongoing investigation and the reason why this collision happened has yet to be determined.
